  • www.ruthstevens.com - Web site of Ruth Stevens, a major contributor of articles on the subject of customer acquisition and retention strategies published in such journals as DM News, i-Marketing News, Direct and e-commerce Business. Her speciality is the BtoB market.
  • www.exporthotline.com - This site houses hundreds of national and international government reports covering the rules, regulations, trends and forecasts of product and service sales by country. For example, in one extensive report you can learn of Italian e-commerce habits, trends and forecasts. In another report you can learn of the state of the TV cable market in Sweden. Free, but registration is required.
  • www.amrresearch.com - Web site of AMR Research, a leading provider of business application and technology research for global organizations. View partial reports covering such topics as e-commerce, customer relationship management, and other strategic business applications.
  • www.harrisinteractive.com - Web site of Harris Interactive, a worldwide market research firm best known for pioneering the use of the Internet to conduct scientifically accurate market research. Search their extensive library for relevant industry findings.

  • www.census.gov - U.S. Census Bureau web site full of information and free reports, mappings and data for download. You can even input your address and learn the average income and age in your block group.
  • www.freedemographics.com - Offers unlimited access to U.S. Census data.

  • www.geek.com - A user friendly web site offering a free on-line glossary that will help you better communicate with your IT group. Great cross referencing of terms in every definition. Quite exhaustive. Ever wondered, for example, what OLAP processing means?

Informational Data Hygiene Web Sites

  • www.g1.com/Solutions - The web site of Group 1 Software, which provides very useful descriptions of address standardization rules and regulations, NCOA processing and other data quality processes.
  • www.grcdi.nl/products.htm - The web site of Graham Rhind, an expert in international (and national) address standardization and cleansing. Graham is also the author of three books on this subject. This site gives an abundance of information and live links.
  • www.semaphorecorp.com/cgi/form.html - The web site of the Semaphore Corporation offering free address standardization and file deduping software. At this link, you can type in a non-standardized address such as "6B 214 168, Bronx, NY, 10456" and out will come "214 East 168th Street, Apt B6, Bronx, NY, 10456-2807." Give this little online address standardization routine a try!
