Final Exam:         Thursday, May 21, 11-1:30

Foundations of Mathematics II, Kutz, Burns, & Lubell, is the required textbook. This is a manuscript available from the University Bookstore. Do not use prior semesters’ versions, as it is a work in progress and undergoes changes every semester.

GRADING:  Homework—10%, Computer Labs—20%, Exams #1-#3—45% total, Final Exam—25%.  A-B-C-D ranges are 90-80-70-60 with the top/bottom 2% of those ranges for +/-.  No extra credit will be possible.

HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK:  Keep assigned exercises in a folder separate from any classroom lecture or reading notes. Label and staple or clip each section and arrange in ascending order (i.e., latest homework on the bottom).  Do not use ring binders, spiral notebooks, etc.  Homework will be collected on exam days and selectively checked (i.e. not all exercises will be checked).  A small bonus will be given to homework that follows the above directions.  If homework is not ready when asked for, turn it in at the earliest possible time.  A late penalty will be assessed, which will grow with the delay unless documented extenuating circumstances are presented.

If you miss an exam, contact the instructor as soon as possible by e-mail (preferably) or by voice-mail, indicating what caused the absence, when you expect to be back, and how you can be contacted.  Make-up exams will be given only under extraordinary circumstances with documentation.  If you miss a class, you are responsible for getting the notes and assignments.

INCOMPLETES will be given only for students who have completed work up to final exam time and have a valid reason for missing the final exam.  The withdrawal deadline is November 7, 2008.

CALCULATORS may be used on exams ONLY if specified on the exam.  Usually, they are not allowed.  Cell phone calculators are never acceptable. No sharing of calculators or use of cell phones is allowed during exams.

CLASSROOM ETTIQUITE: Chatting with neighbors, wandering in and out of class, checking voicemail, etc., are distracting to the instructor and fellow students.  Please do not engage in such behavior.  Turn off cell phones; repeated cell-phone interruption will result in lowering of grade or removal from the class. If you are unable to sit through 50 minute classes, due to medical or other reasons, please sit near the door so your entering and leaving is not disruptive.

E-MAIL ADDRESSES: Announcements such as a cancelled class (other than University cancellations), changes in exam dates, etc., will be made via the WCSU e-mail accounts listed in the BANNER system. That is the only e-mail account that will be used.
