TEXTBOOK:  MyMathLab to accompany the text Mathematics with Applications in the Management, Natural, and Social Sciences by Lial, Hungerford, & Holcomb, custom WCSU edition based on the 9th edition.

MyMathLab is an internet-based learning system that parallels the textbook. Homework answers are entered into MyMathLab. If you buy a new textbook, an access code is included. If you buy a used textbook, of if you choose to not buy a textbook, you must purchase an access code through CourseCompass at http://www.coursecompass.com. You may read the textbook on-line through this site. Approximate costs are: new text (with access code)--$100; used textbook--$75; access code--$55.

Your COURSE ID is kutz27386.

GRADING: Points are earned on the MyMathLab assignments, 3 hour exams, and the final exam. Quizzes will be added to this if attendance lags. There are approximately 190 points available through homework, 100 on each hour exam, and 150 on the final, so the homework is worth just under 30% of your grade. In addition, test zero must be completed by the deadlines noted above. If 50 points are not earned by the first deadline, 10 points will be deducted from your total. Points above 50 earned by the second deadline will become extra credit. The grade is based on the percentage of possible points. The grade cut-offs will be no higher than 92-84-76-68, and it may be lower. Plus/minus grades will be the top/bottom 2% of each grade range.

HOMEWORK: Assignments are due at class time on the day listed. In addition to your on-line homework, turn in your paper copies of your homework at each exam. These must clearly identify you, the assignment, and the exercises, in the order assigned (e.g., HW#1, then #2, etc.). Doing so will earn you up to 2 points per assignment extra credit.

IF YOU MISS AN EXAM, notify the instructor as soon as possible, via e-mail (preferably) or voice mail, including a way to contact you and when you expect to return and make up the exam.  Arrive at your next class early, so you can make arrangements at that time if needed.  If these instructions are not followed, administration of a make-up exam will be at the discretion of the instructor.

INCOMPLETES:  If you want an incomplete, you must fill out an appropriate form and contact the instructor, preferably in person, but at least by an e-mail or phone message.  If this is not done by the day of the final exam, a grade may be given with a zero entered for missing exams or assignments.
