Valerie Soe is a fourth-generation Chinese American from the San Francisco Bay area. Her video pieces deal with personal expression of her experience as a Chinese-American woman, and treat intersecting issues of race, social prejudice, and the politics of difference, both in mainstream American culture and marginalized cultures such as Chinese Americans.
