The Millennium Film Journal filmmaker index (http://mfj-online.org/MFJ_filmmaker_index.html) has about 25 entries for Brakhage. You can probably tell which are most relevant to you from the title and author of the article that mentions him. Victor Grauer, for example, has a major piece called "Brakhage and the Theory of Montage" in MFJ 32/33 (Fall 1998) & Noel Carroll, "Toward a Theory of Film Editing," [MFJ 3, 1979] has a section on Brakhage. I know that there's plenty more in the MFJ over the years on this subject ...
