John Greyson Characteristics
An outspoken gay activist for many years, his tapes deliver a passionate indictment of governmental inactivity in response to AIDS, mixed with playful humor and snappy graphics. He was recently awarded the 1994 Gay Times Award for outstanding contribution to gay cinema. His films include two features, Zero Patience (1993) and Urinal (1989), as well as the shorts The Making of Monsters (1991) and a Moffie Called Simon (1986). His collection of artists writings Urinal and Other Stories was published in 1993, and he co-edited the critical anthology Queer Looks: Perspectives on Lesbian and Gay Film and Video (1993).
