Course Description:

Mass media permeates most areas of our lives on a daily basis. As creators of media it is necessary to be able to comprehend and deconstruct the aesthetic nature of our work. Information passes through a medium, layered in meaning to be received by an audience. The focus of this class is to provide students with the tools to peel away the layers and critically examine the messages and the forms in which they are clarified, intensified and interpreted. This process will cover various including but not limited to topics of how aesthetic elements such as lighting, composition and editing choices can modify an audience's perception.
