Grading Criteria

1.  You must hand in a copy of the outline in advance.

The outline must have at the top:  Your name, type of speech, Title of speech, time.

The time should come out to within 8% of the expected time. (for example, if you expect the speech to be 6:00, it must come in within 29 seconds either way (5:31 to 6:29).  There is, of course, less leeway on a shorter speech, so that if your speech is to be 3:00, it must be within 14 seconds either way.

2.  Performance, rate/articulation, body, hands, stance.

3.  Verbal Clutter.  You lose points for saying "um," "er," "like," you know," laughing at any of your own jokes and anything else of that sort.

4.  Organization:  is the outline well constructed so that the audience can follow you.  Do we know how long you will take and where you are at various points in the speech, appropriate use of logos, pathos, and ethos.
