Television Criticism

Writing Assignment 3

Due March 12

The Politics of Children’s Television

In 1950, there were a fewer than 100 television stations in the U.S. By 1955, half of U.S. house holds had a TV; by 1975 virtually every U.S. household had a TV and more than half had more than one.  By 2005, well, look around.

Ever since television became a significant influence in this country much criticism has focused on its political stance.  In this essay, you are to take a children’s show from the list below and explain how it carries a strong liberal social values bias.

Organize your essay to explain the political principles (as discussed in class) and use specific examples from the show to demonstrate how they are exhibited.  Please title your essay as above or The Politics of [name of show].
