    It was a long race on a warm day, and some people tried to save  bit of energy and not run quite as fast as they sometimes do.  By the end of the race, though, people were dragging.

    Jeff Sheldon bested Chris Deming by 1:20 to win the race while Mary Schafer was first among the women by a decisive margin.

Whining

    The Web Team apologizes for further problems with the website.  We have been beset by Web Gremlins this year.  The latest problem has been that we ran out of server space.  We'd used 99.47% of our allotted 100 megabytes of server space, and we just couldn't save any more files.  It took over a week to get our allocation increased to 150 MB, and that should get us through the season.  

People    

    Sharp-eyed readers of the Newlyweds page of the News-Times may have noticed our old friend Jon Chesto, aka "Ishmael" recently tied the knot.  Congratulations to both, and we hope he'll bring her around to meet us sometime.

    We'd just run the announcement above, when who shows up at this week's race but the newly married Ishmael himself, back in town for Marty Ogden's bachelor's party! (Now we know why we haven't seen Marty in Roxbury for some time; he's been out courting ;)  We subjected him to the usual Webguy's Interrogation and learned that he is a journalist in Boston and his wife is a child psychologist, an absolutely essential qualification to live happily with someone like Ishmael.

Week 18

 

    The Fossil clings to a 62 point lead over Steady Joe Mendes, and Dan Lynch is just eight points behind that with 22 races left in the season.  It is shaping to be a fairly low scoring Battle of Attendance, with the winning point total in the neighborhood of 1500 points, far below the 2000+ points scored by Jeff Sheldon a couple of years ago.

 

    We welcome a number of rookies this week, including long-missing Ishmael Chesto and Pete Gillen, and we note among Friends and Relatives Ann Schafer and Stormy Chamberlain.  Keep bringing your friends, and introduce them to the WebGuy so he knows something to write about them for the web page.
