CHEMISTRY FRESHMAN SEMINAR

CHE  198   -   FALL  2009

COURSE GOALS:   

The freshman chemistry seminar is designed to familiarize the new chemistry/biochemistry student with the chemistry discipline in general and with chemistry at WCSU in particular.  Through a series of weekly seminars, the student will participate in discussions that cover a variety of areas relevant to her/his experience as a chemistry major.  The list of seminar topics is found on the next page of this syllabus. 

REQUIREMENTS:

The student is required to attend all seminar sessions.  A passing grade will not be given to a student who is absent from more than one session.  There will be at least one written assignment.  The assignment will be based on a literature search and/or on some of the topics discussed in the course of the seminars. 

GRADING:

This course is graded on a pass/fail basis.  The grade will be based on the quality of the written assignment and the attendance.
