My research lab utilizes DNA fingerprinting and sequencing technologies to answer a variety of interesting biological questions. Presently, my research interests include investigating the structure of microbial communities in different environmental conditions.

Along with the new building, our department received almost $2 million for new equipment. Several items have been significant upgrades for my research and teaching labs:

  • Beckman-Coulter CEQ8000 capillary DNA sequencer
  • Bio-Rad iCycler and MyCycler PCR thermal cyclers
  • Fisher refrigerated AccuSpin microcentrifuge
  • Revco -80°C freezer
  • Eppendorf 2510 electroporator
  • Syngene DigiGenius7 photodocumentation system
  • FisherBiotech UV transilluminator

Undergraduate, graduate, and joint faculty research projects have been supported in my lab.
